
Pack Rifle Wraps Up Competition at GARC Championships

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The NC State rifle team completed competition for the 2022-23 season Sunday at the Great American Rifle Conference Championships, firing an air rifle tally of 2,357 to finish the championships with a team aggregate score of 4,682.
NC State's team aggregate score of 4,682 ranked seventh out of eight competitors. West Virginia, the hosts for the 2023 GARC Championships, captured the overall team title with an aggregate score of 4,722.
Ben Salas again paced the Wolfpack in air rifle, finishing with a team-high score of 594. Salas' individual aggregate score of 1,184 also ranked as a team best.
Kendall Goebel finished her freshman campaign with a strong performance in air rifle, tying her career high with a score of 591. Goebel's air rifle tally helped her rank second among Pack shooters with an individual aggregate score of 1,173.
Katie Tedeschi (587), Lauren Crossley (585) and Kyra Meade (580) rounded out the group of five Pack shooters in Sunday's air rifle event.
Overall, the Wolfpack finished 15 points higher than its 2022 tally at the GARC Championships (4,667).
DAY ONE RECAP (SMALLBORE)
The NC State rifle team finished day one of the Great American Rifle Conference Championships with a smallbore score of 2,325 on Saturday at West Virginia's WVU Shell Building.
The Wolfpack finished tied for fifth out of eight teams in Saturday's team smallbore event, placing above No. 15 Army (2,301) and No. 10 Memphis (2,318) and tying No. 9 Navy.
Ben Salas, who was named Honorable Mention GARC All-Smallbore on Friday, led the Pack with a score of 590 to qualify for the finals. In his first ever GARC finals, he finished fifth overall out of eight finalists.
Kendall Goebel ranked second among Pack shooters with a score of 582, while Katie Tedeschi rounded out the top-three with a score of 580. Kyra Meade (573) and Roman Karadsheh (565) finished out the scoring for the Pack.
No. 2 West Virginia clinched the team smallbore title with a score of 2,345 in its home venue.

While the Pack's season has come to a close, Salas was named an individual qualifier for the NCAA Rifle Championships on Monday afternoon. Salas will travel to Akron, Ohio, on March 10-11 to compete in both smallbore and air rifle.
