RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State Women's tennis welcomed highly touted Mia Slama to its future freshman class, as Slama signed her National Letter of Intent to join the Wolfpack beginning with the 2024-25 season.
The Boca Raton native comes to Raleigh with six ITF Junior Singles Titles and three ITF Junior Doubles Titles. Currently ranked 66 in the ITF Junior Rankings, Slama has risen to as high as 33 in her career.
In 2022, Slama took home the ITF G2 Istres, France Singles Championship, and the ITF G2 Santiago, Chile Doubles Championship. In 2021 was crowned ITF G3 Lambere, Paraguay Singles Champion. Over the last two years, Slama has continued to compete on the world stage in Junior events at Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and the US Open.
Tennisrecruiting.net has her ranked as the No. 8 Blue Chip Recruit in the 2024 Class, with the highest ranking of No. 7 in 2023.
From Mia
"I truly believe that NC State is the best place for me to develop as a player and a person, especially the team culture and the coaching staff."
From Coach Earnshaw
"It was quickly apparent that Mia and her family were a perfect fit for Pack Women's Tennis and NC State," head coach Simon Earnshaw said. "Sometimes these things can take a while, but our program culture and what Mia and her parents were looking for aligned in a way that this was a no-brainer for both Dave and I. Mia's athletic, plays with a lot of variety, is looking to move forward and play forcing tennis. Her dad and coach, Marc, have done a tremendous job giving Mia a wide range of skills to be an extremely versatile competitor. In addition, Mia brings a level of experience, having now played in six Junior Grand Slams as well as many of the top ITF Junior events worldwide that will aid with her transition to NC State in 2024. Dave and I couldn't be more excited and prouder to announce Mia as the first member of our 2024 recruiting class. Go Pack!"
