RALEIGH, N.C. – After being a part of four separate pool records and helping lead the Wolfpack men to wins over both Duke and Georgia on Friday, senior Luke Miller has been named ACC Men's Swimmer of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.
Miller had himself a record-setting night for the Wolfpack. First, Miller clocked a 19.18 in the 50 YD Free, setting a pool record and turning in the second-fastest time in the country. Then, in the 100 butterfly, he set another pool record, clocking 44.17, which was the fastest time in the nation and qualified him for the NCAA A standard.
The two individual events were not the only records involving the Broomfield, Colo native. In the 400 YD freestyle relay, Miller had a 41.46 split as the last swimmer to help NC State to a pool record with a total time of 2:49.40 for a first-place finish. To close out the night, Miller was a part of another relay pool record in the 200 medley, where he had a split of 18.75 to guide the Wolfpack to another first-place finish with a total time of 1:23.61 qualifying for NCAA A standards.
Miller is the second NC State swimmer to take home a conference award this season, as Abby Arens took home swimmer of the week on the women's side after the Wolfpack's meet at Arizona State to open the season.
