Joe Shimko Earns Recognition as Finalist for 2023 Patrick Mannelly Award

RALEIGH, N.C. – After being named a semifinalist twice the past two seasons, Wolfpack long snapper Joe Shimko has been recognized as a finalist for the Patrick Mannelly Award, the award given to the nation's top long snapper.
In 61 career games at NC State, Shimko has the most game experience on the team, totaling 600 snaps; Shimko has yet to have a bad snap in his five years as the Wolfpack long snapper.
Shimko has also impacted his community, raising over $400k for charity the past two summers, donating over $55k to GiGi's Playhouse in Raleigh, and donating to multiple organizations in his hometown of Belmar, N.J.
Named after former NFL long snapper Patrick Mannelly, it benefits Bernie's Book Bank, a non-profit providing books for underserved Chicago communities. The three finalists will be invited to the Award presentation dinner outside Chicago on Saturday, December 9, 2023.
