Joe Shimko Named Semifinalist for Patrick Mannelly Award

RALEIGH, N.C. – For the second time in his career, long snapper Joe Shimko has been named a semifinalist for the Patrick Mannelly Award. The award is given to the nation's top long snapper, with Shimko being named a semifinalist in consecutive seasons.
With the most game experience on the team, he has been the Wolfpack's long snapper in 59 career games. Shimko is also a semifinalist for the Jason Witten Award.
In 578 career snaps, Shimko has never had a bad one. Before the season, he was named to the preseason watch list for the Weurffel Trophy, the Patrick Mannelly Award, and the All-State Good Works Team.
The Belmar, N.J. Has raised over $400k for charity in the past two summers, he has donated over $55k to GiGi's Playhouse in Raleigh.
Named after former NFL long snapper Patrick Mannelly, benefits Bernie's Book Bank, a non-profit that provides books for underserved communities in the Chicago area. The 10 snappers will be narrowed to the final three, announced on Monday, November 27, 2023. The three finalists will be invited to the Award presentation dinner on Saturday, December 9, 2023, outside Chicago.
