Wolfpack Returns from Pan American Games with 15 Total Medals

SANTIAGO, Chile. – It was a successful Pan-American Games for the Wolfpack as Kennedy Noble, Will Gallant, Arsenio Bustos, James Plage, and Luke Miller combined for 15 medals in four days from Santiago, Chile, and the Centro Acuático.
Along with the five golds, six silvers, and four bronze medals, Noble broke two Pan-American and pool records. First in the 200m backstroke with a time of 2:08.03 for a first-place finish and then again in the 4x100 mixed medley relay with a time of 3:44.71 to also bring home the gold for Team USA.
Noble totaled four medals, with a silver in the 100m backstroke (59.84) and a bronze in the 200m IM (2:14.19) as well.
The men's 100m butterfly saw two Wolfpack on the podium with a first-place finish from Miller (51.98) followed by Bustos (52.60) taking home the bronze.
In the men's 800m freestyle relay, Miller and Plage helped Team USA to a silver medal after clocking a time of 7:08.06. Miller was also part of the American 4x100 medley relay (3:33.29) and the 4x100m freestyle relay 3:14.22 that took home gold medals.
The first medal of the games went to Plage, who finished third in the 400 m freestyle (3:50.74), and he followed it with an 8:10.73 in the 800m freestyle, good enough for eighth place.
A strong showing from Bustos gave him a silver in the 200m IM (1:59.89) and a gold in the 4x100m mixed medley relay (3:44.71), where he swam the breaststroke.
Gallant didn't come home empty-handed either, bringing back a bronze medal in the 800m freestyle (7:58.96) and doing one better in the 1500m freestyle, earning silver with a time of 15:12.94.
All five now join the rest of the NC State swim and dive program in preparing for their first home meet of the season as they get set to welcome Georgia and Duke on Friday, Nov. 3, at 5 p.m. from the Willis R. Aquatic Center, with ACC Extra streaming the meet.
