Two Top-20 Individuals Highlight Pack’s Time in Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — NC State wrapped up action at its third of four October tournaments on Wednesday with the third and final round of competition at the Mercedes Benz Collegiate Championship hosted by Tennessee. The team placed tied for seventh in a field of 14 teams, 13 of which are ranked in the national top 70, and posted a three-round score of 866 (+14).
The team's score ranks among the top 15 54-hole marks in program history. Individually, the Pack's time at the tournament was highlighted by a pair of top-20 finishers and three among the top 30 individuals.
Wolfpack rookie Ellise Rymer shot par or better in all three rounds of the event, highlighted by a one-under 70 on day two. Rymer finished tied for 10th place individually with a score of 212 (-1).
Vania Simont was tied for 20th overall after kicking off action with the lowest score of her Wolfpack career (67) in the opening round. She had six birdies that day as she tallied her first sub-70 score of the season, and Simont went on to post a cumulative score of 215 (+2).
Lauren Olivares Leon wrapped out the team's top-30 finishers with her score of 217 (+4), and Isabel Amezcua posted the team's lowest score of round three (70) to close out her 223 (+10) tournament. Caitlin Whitehead rounded out the Pack's five-woman lineup with a score of 233 (+20).
NC State will round out the fall portion of its 2023-24 slate at the Landfall Tradition from Oct. 27-29.
