GREENSBORO, N.C. – NC State women's tennis graduate Jaeda Daniel has been selected to represent the Atlantic Coast Conference as a nominee for the 2022 NCAA Woman of the Year Award, as announced by the league office on Monday.
The award, which was established in 1991, is given annually to a graduated female student-athlete who has distinguished herself throughout her collegiate career in the areas of academics, athletics, service and leadership.
Daniel concluded her Wolfpack career on top as the 2022 NCAA champion in doubles alongside playing partner Nell Miller. It marked the first title in NC State women's tennis history, and she finished the campaign with the Pack's first-ever No. 1 final national ranking in doubles.
A native of Newton Square, Pa., Daniel was one of just five players in the nation to be named an All-American in singles and doubles in 2022, and she was also honored as a member of the First Team All-ACC. She was honored as the recipient of the H.C. Kennett Award, the highest athletic honor at NC State, and was also the national winner of the 2022 ITA Most Improved Senior award.
In addition to her leadership on the court for a Wolfpack team that has reached back-to-back NCAA Championships quarterfinals, Daniel played an active role in the NC State and Raleigh communities during her career. She served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee for both NC State and the ACC, and she was also a member of the Pack United leadership board. Daniel also spent time volunteering with multiple local organizations including the Boy's and Girl's Club, Victory Junction Hospital and the Raleigh Salvation Army.
Daniel recently earned her graduate degree in textiles from NC State. In her three seasons with the Wolfpack, she was honored as an All-ACC Academic Team member twice and earned recognition as an ITA Scholar Athlete every year.
Daniel was selected from a strong list of candidates from each of the league's 15 member schools. From the group of conference nominees, the top 10 will be chosen from each NCAA division. The selection committee will then determine the top three honorees from each division to make up the final nine finalists. The national winner will be chosen by the NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics.
