Four players honored as 2022 ITA Scholar Athletes
TEMPE, Ariz. – The NC State women's tennis team was named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team for the 2021-22 season, as announced by the organization on Monday morning.
In addition to the team recognition, a four members of the Wolfpack squad were named 2022 ITA Scholar Athletes. Jaeda Daniel was honored for the third-straight season, while Sophie Abrams, Sara Nayar and Priska Nugroho were all named ITA Scholar Athletes for the first time in their Wolfpack careers.
NC State has now had at least one player named an ITA Scholar Athlete in each of the last seven seasons.
On the court, the Pack put together another successful dual match campaign in 2022. NC State is coming off its second-straight NCAA Championships quarterfinals berth after never advancing past the Round of 16 prior to 2021. The team tied its program-best final ranking of No. 6 and ended the year with a 26-6 record, with those 26 victories marking the most in a single season in team history.
To become an ITA Scholar Athlete, one must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) for the current academic year. Programs that were recognized as ITA All-Academic Teams must have posted a team GPA of at least 3.2 (on a 4.0 scale).
