
Pack Places Five on All-ACC Baseball Academic Team

Athletes must maintain a 3.0 grade point average for their careers, as well as a 3.0 for each of the last two semesters
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The NC State baseball team placed five players on the 2022 Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball All-Academic Team announced on Monday by the conference office.
The ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards were established in September of 2007 to be awarded annually to the top student-athlete in their respective sports. Candidates for the awards must have maintained a 3.0 grade point average for their careers, as well as a 3.0 for each of the last two semesters.
NC State Academic Team Members
LuJames Groover III (So., Sport Management) – Appeared in 57 games this season for the Pack, making 55 starts. He led the team with a .364 batting average, 86 hits, 16 doubles and a .440 on-base percentage. He also had 10 home runs, fourth-most on the team. He tallied at least one hit in 48 of 57 games and reached base safely in 50 of 57 games. He led the team with 27 multi-hit games, including 11 three-hit outings.
Josh Hood (Sr., History) – One of three NC State players to start all 57 games this past season, splitting time between short stop and third base. He batted .268 with 62 hits and 52 RBIs, including 14 doubles and 13 home runs. He finished second on the team in RBIs and third in doubles and homers. He turned in 16 multi-hit performances and was named one of Collegiate Baseball's National Players of the Week on May 2 after helping NC State go 4-0 against East Carolina and Radford with four homers, a double and 11 runs batted in.
J.T. Jarrett (Sr., Sport Management) – Made 51 starts in 52 appearances this season. He played every game at second base and committed just three errors on the year. He batted .258 with 49 hits, including 12 doubles and a career-best six home runs. In total, had nine multi-hit games and seven multi-RBI games.
Canaan Silver (Gr., Forestry) – He turned in a stellar final season on the mound, leading the team with a 3.21 ERA and an 8-1 record in 21 appearances. His 21 appearances and 70.0 innings pitched were both the second-most on the team. He finished third on the team with 65 strikeouts.
Noah Soles (Jr., Sport Management) – He finished third on the team with a .321 batting average in 55 appearances. He tallied 54 hits, including 11 doubles and four homers and drove in 28 runs while scoring 37 of his own. He was named ACC Player of the Week on April 4 after going 8-for-11 at the plate with three multi-hit outings and seven runs batted in to compile a team-best .667 batting average and 1.250 slugging percentage to help NC State clinch its series at Clemson.
