Clemson Knocks Pack Out of ACC Tourney

Dereon Seabron led the Pack with 19 points, 12 rebounds and six assists
BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Clemson had an answer for every NC State second half run as the Tigers knocked the Pack out of the ACC Tournament Tuesday evening with a, 70-64, win at the Barclays Center.
The Tigers shot just 26.1 percent from three-point range, but hit four crucial three-pointers in the final 20 minutes.
Clemson led 29-24 at the break and scored the first four points of the second half to force a quick NC State timeout.
A steal by Casey Morsell and tough finish at the rim by Breon Pass brought the Pack within three, 39-36, with 12:18 to play, but the Tigers immediately rattled off eight consecutive points to take its first double-digit lead of the game.
PJ Hall started the run with a jumper and then Nick Honor hit back-to-back triples to give the Tigers a 47-36 lead and force the Pack to call a timeout with 11:03 to go.
The Pack got within six on two Dereon Seabron free throws, but Al-Amir Dawes answered with a three-pointer on the Tigers' next possession to push the lead back to nine.
After two more Seabron free throws the Tigers hit another three, this time by Chase Hunter to push the lead up to 10 with 4:10 to go.
NC State would get within six with 2:05 to play and had a chance to cut the deficit in half after getting a stop on defense, but Casey Morsell had a three-pointer rim out.
The Pack wouldn't get closer than six the rest of the way.
Seaborn led the Pack with 19 points and 12 rebounds. It was the 12th double-double of the season for the ACC's Most Improved Player. Seabron also had a team-high six assists and two blocks.
Jericole Hellems playing in his final game in an NC State uniform finished with 13 points and eight rebounds. Hellems concludes his career 38th on the program's all-time scoring chart with 1,244 points.
Terquavion Smith finished with seven points as he shot just 2-of-13 from the field. He finishes his rookie campaign with 96 three-pointers, the fourth-most by a freshman in ACC history.
Hall led Clemson with a double-double, finishing with 18 points and 10 rebounds, and added a game-high four blocks.
The Pack concludes the season with an 11-21 record.
