ATLANTA — On day three of the men's NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, NC State junior Kacper Stokowski brought home his first National Championship with his 44.04 performance in the 100-yard backstroke. Three other Pack men swam in the night's Championship finals, bringing home three more All-American titles, in addition to an All-American 400-yard medley relay to finish the night.
The Pack currently sits in fourth place as a team with 214 points. California (320.5), Texas (313), and Florida (272) lead the way in first, second, and third overall with one more full day of competition remaining.
100 BACKSTROKE:
After finishing as the runner-up in the event at last year's Championship, Kacper Stokowski claimed the first NCAA Championship title of his career in the event Friday night. His finishing time of 44.04 seconds keeps him at No. 2Â in program history behind Coleman Stewart's 43.98 program record. Stokowski dropped .40 from his personal best time coming into the meet and is now the 6th fastest performer in history.
200 FREESTYLE:
Luke Miller set an ACC Record and program record in the 200-yard freestyle (1:31.16), where he finished in fourth place. The swim gained him the fifth All-American honor of his career at just his second National Championship meet.
100 BUTTERFLY:
In the 100-yard butterfly, Nyls Korstanje touched in fourth, making the 44.17 second swim the 13th fastest time in history, also breaking Coleman Stewart's program record (44.46) set in 2019.
Standout freshman Aiden Hayes went 44.75 in the 100-yard butterfly, breaking the National Age Group Record previously held by Tom Shields. His performance places him on the NC State record books, jumping from not being on the list to third, only behind Korstanje and Stewart.
400 MEDLEY RELAY:
In the last event of the night, the Pack gained All-American honors in the 400-yard medley relay with their fifth-place finishing time of 3:01.53. The time broke the previous program record in the event that was set in 2018 and was just one-hundredth of a second off of the ACC Record time. Stokowski led off 44.33, with Rafal Kusto splitting 51.81 on the breaststroke leg. Nyls Korstanje blasted a 43.88 100 butterfly split and Noah Henderson brought the team home with a 41.51 anchor freestyle leg.
3-METER:
Bayne Bennett finished out his season with his efforts on the 3-meter board prelims. His 323.80 points secured him 33rd place at the first NCAA Championships
UP NEXT:
