Four Members of the Wolfpack Featured in Preseason ITA Rankings

TEMPE, Ariz. - The NC State men's tennis team saw four members of its 2021-22 squad check into the preseason ITA rankings, as announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) on Tuesday.
Senior Rafa Izqueirdo Luque opens the year as the Wolfpack's sole ranked singles player, checking in at No. 82. The Santiago de Compostella, Spain, native spent seven weeks in the 2020 season ranked in singles, reaching his highest career spot at No. 76.
NC State additionally tabs a ranked doubles pair in the preseason rankings as Yannai Barkai and Braden Shick check in at No. 49. The ranking marks the first time that the pair has been ranked together in doubles.
Wolfpack freshman Luca Staeheli claimed a spot on the ITA's list of 2021 Top 10 Newcomers, taking the No. 3 spot.
The program will look to continue several years of success in 2021-22. Under head coach Kyle Spencer, the men's tennis team has made three consecutive NCAA Championships trips alongside two-straight ACC Championship semifinal berths.
