Grant Gibson & Isaiah Moore take home top awards
RALEIGH, N.C. -Â As the Wolfpack football squad reported for fall camp on Tuesday, the top performers in the summer conditioning program were announced by Director of Strength and Conditioning Dantonio Burnette and his staff.
Â
The highest offseason honor is the Iron Wolf Award, which is given to the players who dominate the summer program in every aspect. This year's winners were C Grant Gibson and LB Isaiah Moore.
Â
Â
"How could anyone not pull for Grant Gibson?" Burnette said. "He's one of the best leaders and most caring players we have had in our program and it shows through his words and actions. He is another one of those players that Coach Doeren did a phenomenal job of evaluating and projecting that he would become a really good offensive lineman. Here we are a few years later and he has been recognized as one of the best interior linemen in the country.
Â
"It's amazing to see the growth that Isaiah has made since stepping on campus," he continued. "He's matured into becoming the face of our program and it has all been earned and not given. To see him at this point in his career is a testimony to his hard work, perseverance and dedication to become the best version of himself.
Â
Three Wolfpack leaders were honored with the Alpha Wolf Award, given to players on each side of the ball who have shown leadership. Gibson and Moore also picked up this accolade, while WR Devin Carter was also an offensive recipient. Moore is one of only two recipients to ever win the Alpha Wolf & Iron Wolf award in the same year.
Â
Second-year freshman CB Nehki Meredith was given the Future Wolf Award which honors an underclassman who works extremely hard and upholds the program's standards prior to playing a contributing role on the field.
Â
For the first time this year, a position group was honored with the Alpha Elite Award. The Wolfpack running backs won this honors for being the most consistent and hardest working position group on the team.
