Gill Named to Ray Guy Award Watch List

RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State punter Trenton Gill, who is in his fifth year with the Wolfpack program, has been named to the preseason watch list for the 2021 Ray Guy Award, the Augusta Sports Council announced today. The Guy Award has honored the nation's top collegiate punter since 2000.

The Hillsborough native currently ranks as NC State's career leader in punt average with a 46.3 mark - the second-best career mark among current ACC players. Gill ranks 12th in school history in career punting yards with 4,997. He tied for third in the ACC with a 44.9 ypp average last season - the fifth best single-season mark in school history.

Gill was also an academic All-ACC choice in 2020.

In mid-November, the Ray Guy Award committee will meet to select the ten semifinalists, who will be announced on November 10th. A national body will then vote for the top three finalists to be announced on November 23. After the finalists are named, the voting body will cast ballots again to select the nation's top punter. The winner will be announced live during The Home Depot College Football Awards airing on ESPN on Thursday, December 9, 2021.
