Shipp and Steinlechner Earn All-American Recognition from PING

Shipp was named to third team while Steinlechner earned honorable mention honors
Norman, Okla. — NC State senior Benjamin Shipp was named a 2021 NCAA Division I PING Third Team All-America and sophomore Maximilian Steinlechner earned honorable mention recognition as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
Shipp had a terrific senior season, winning two tournaments (Schenkel Invitational and Hootie Intercollegiate) to give him five for his career. His five collegiate wins are tied for the third-most in NC State history.
The Duluth Ga., native's season stroke average of 70.4 was the second-best in program history and his career stroke average of 71.27 is the third-best in program history.
In 10 events in his final season with the Pack, Shipp posted two wins, five top-five finishes and six top-10 performances.
Steinlechner, in his first full season as a collegiate golfer, had a fantastic sophomore season. The Innsbruck, Austria native finished second on team to Shipp with a 70.87 scoring average and had five top-five performances in 10 tournaments this season.
Steinlechner's 70.87 scoring average ranked as the sixth-best single season mark in program history.
After starting the season with two finishes in the upper-half of the field, Steinlechner went on a roll, finishing five consecutive tournaments in the top-five and all under-par.
He started by shooting four-under par to finished in a tie for second place at the Wake Forest Invite, he followed up with a fourth place finish at the General Hackler with a six-under performance. He finished second to Shipp at the Schenkel Invitational with a score of five-under par. He followed up with a fifth place finish at the Hootie Intercollegiate at Bulls Bay before finishing his hot streak with a score of 13-under par at the Stitch Intercollegiate to finish in a tie for third.
