RALEIGH – NC State men's soccer goalkeeper Leon Krapf has been named to the 2021 CoSIDA Academic All-District Men's Soccer Team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America organization on Thursday afternoon.
Krapf is one of a total of 13 men who were named First Team honorees from District 3, which includes NCAA Division I schools from North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. He is the first All-District honoree for Wolfpack men's soccer since 2018.
A native of Gochsheim, Germany, Krapf maintains a 4.0 cumulative grade point average. He earned his Business Administration degree from NC State in December and is now pursuing his Master's in Accounting.
Krapf is a two-time All-ACC Academic Team honoree (2018, 2019) and has been named to the Dean's List and ACC Academic Honor Roll every season of his career. Earlier in the academic year, Krapf was honored with a 2021 ACC Postgraduate Scholarship, and he was also a 2021 recipient of the Mathews Medal, the highest non-academic honor at NC State and the first athlete in the school's history to earn it. The Wolfpack captain is also extremely involved in the NC State community. He serves as the SAAC president for NC State and is also the ACC's representative on the NCAA SAAC committee.
Athletically, Krapf has played and started in 54 matches for the Wolfpack. He suffered a season-ending injury in the Pack's 2019 season opener but went on to make a return to start every game in 2020. His 1.10 career GAA mark ranks as the best in program history, and his 20 career shutouts rank third.
With the recognition, Krapf is now eligible for consideration for CoSIDA Academic All-America honors, with those teams set to be announced in early July. NC State men's soccer has earned a total of two Academic All-America citations in program history, with those citations both coming from Julius Duchscherer in 2016 (Second Team) and 2017 (First Team).
