Ekwonu Named to Phil Steele’s Preseason All-American Team

Nine from NC State named to preseason All-ACC teams overall

RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State offensive tackle Ikem Ekwonu has been named a preseason third-team All-American by Phil Steele. Steele also announced his preseason All-ACC squads, which included nine members of the Wolfpack.

Ekwonu was a beast on the offensive line last season, earning second-team all-league honors from the Associated Press at both guard and tackle while leading NC State in pancake blocks.

He was also named a 2021 preseason first-team All-ACC selection, after having previously been named to PFF's Top 10 Returning Players list and Athlon Sports' preseason All-ACC team.

Joining Ekwonu on the All-ACC first team: RB Zonovan Knight, LB Payton Wilson, LB Isaiah Moore, Thayer Thomas at punt returner, and Knight was also named top kickoff returner.

WE Emeka Emezie was named a second-team selection. Center Grant Gibson and DE Daniel Joseph were both named to the third-team, while on the fourth team was DE Savion Jackson.
