Over the last three NFL Drafts (2018-20), a total of six former Wolfpack defensive linemen have had their names called. Alim McNeill will become the seventh this weekend, as he is projected to be the Pack's highest selection.
Â
In his final season with the Pack, McNeill was named an Associated Press All-America second-team selection in 2021. He was the first Wolfpack defensive tackle to earn All-American honors since Ron Carpenter in 1968. McNeill was also named both an ACC and AP first-team conference selection, and was a PFF first-team All-American selection as well.
Â
Cary Angeline is vying to become the first Wolfpack tight end drafted since Anthony Hill in 2009 (Jaylan Samuels was a fifth round pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2018 as a running back). Angeline has led the Pack in TD catches each of the last two seasons (five in 2020 and six in 2021), and totaled 52 catches for 791 yards his final two years.
Â
Offensive lineman Joe Sculthorpe started all 22 games he played in over his last two seasons with the Pack, and worked out for NFL scouts at both guard and center. He was a third-team All-ACC selection in 2021. J.R. Sweezy was the last Wolfpack guard to be selected in the NFL Draft, in 2012. (Joe Thuney played tackle at NC State before being drafted in 2016 to play guard by the New England Patriots).
