RALEIGH – NC State men's soccer goalkeeper Leon Krapf has been honored as a member of the 2021 CoSIDA Academic All-America Men's Soccer Team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America organization on Friday afternoon.
With the recognition, Krapf became just the second Academic All-American in program history, joining Julius Duchscherer who earned the honors in 2016 and 2017. He earned a spot on the Third Team.
A native of Gochsheim, Germany, Krapf maintained a 4.0 cumulative grade point average while with the Wolfpack. He earned his Business Administration degree from NC State last December and just wrapped up his Master's in Accounting.
Krapf was a three-time All-ACC Academic Team honoree during his career (2018, 2019, 2021) and has been named to the Dean's List and ACC Academic Honor Roll every semester of his time at NC State. Last academic year, he was honored with a 2021 ACC Postgraduate Scholarship, and he was also a 2021 recipient of the Mathews Medal, the highest non-academic honor at NC State and the first athlete in the school's history to earn it.
Krapf played and started in 71 matches during his four-year career with the Wolfpack. His 1.11 career GAA mark stands as the best in program history, and his 25 career shutouts rank second in NC State's record book. During the 2021 season, Krapf put together a clean sheet in five games and held another six opponents to just a single score.
Krapf is also extremely involved in the NC State and collegiate athletics communities. In addition to being the Wolfpack's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), Krapf has also represented NC State on the executive committee of the ACC SAAC and was the conference's representative on the NCAA Division I SAAC. He also helped to found Pack United, a student-athlete driven initiative that advocates for social justice and equity.
