RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State Rifle head coach Emily Holsopple has announced the addition of Chance Cover to the Wolfpack coaching staff as an assistant coach. Cover, an experienced shooter himself, was a three-time letter winner at West Virginia before entering the coaching world.
"We are thrilled to announce the addition of Chance Cover to our coaching staff," said Holsopple. "His experience with NCAA shooting and junior development really set him apart in our hiring process. Chance was a part of a culture of excellence and success during his time at WVU and my hope is he is able to help us strengthen those intrinsic factors of culture within our program. I can't wait for Chance to get started with the team and help us grow."
Cover was a member of the storied Mountaineers team that won back-to-back national titles in 2013 and 2014. During his time at West Virginia, the Mountaineers went a combined 33-3 with three GARC Conference titles. Individually, Cover was a three-time CRCA Academic All-American and a two-time Academic All-Big 12 At-Large Team honoree.
Since concluding his career at West Virginia, Cover has worked extensively with the Civilian Marksmanship Program in various positions, most recently as the Summer Camp Director in Port Clinton, Ohio. While there, he has worked directly with the development of high school athletes as well as managing a team of instructors.
Cover graduated from West Virginia magna cum laude with a B.S. in Computer Science and Computer Engineering and is currently enrolled in West Virginia's M.S. in Sport Coaching program.
