INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – NC State swimming and diving alumnus Andreas Vazaios has been named an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship recipient, awarding the four-time NCAA Champion a $10,000 scholarship for part-time or full-time graduate study at a university or professional school.
"This is indeed a great honor," said Vazaios. "I have been accepted to Loughborough University to pursue a master's degree in Sports and Exercise Psychology as it has a long-lasting reputation in sport-related subjects. After completing my master's degree, my focal point is to expand my education with a PhD in the same field in order to be able to pass along my passion to others with similar interests and contribute to the field with new research. At the same time, I will be able to continue swimming professionally with the university team while racing in BUCS Championship and representing Greece at all international competitions."
Vazaios is a four-time NCAA Champion and 13-time All-American. His repeat national title in the 200-yard butterfly in 2019 marked just the second individual multi-title athlete in program history. The 2019 ACC Men's Scholar-Athlete of the Year, he collected six ACC titles during his three-year stint with the Pack. He was also recognized as the 2019 ACC Men's Swimmer of the Year.
The Athens, Greece, native was also awarded the 2020 Weaver-James-Corrigan Postgraduate Scholarship Award from the Atlantic Coast Conference earlier this year.
