CORAL GABLES, Fla. – NC State women's golf head coach Page Marsh has been named a recipient of the 2020 Division I Kim Moore Spirit Award, as announced by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) on Thursday afternoon.
This award is dedicated to Kim Moore, who played golf for the University of Indianapolis (1999-2003). Moore was an inspiration to all as she persevered through many physical challenges while playing collegiate golf. Her positive outlook and dedication toward the game was only outdone by her sense of humor and passion for the game.
The purpose of the award is to recognize and honor a student-athlete or coach who exemplifies a great spirit toward the game of golf, a positive attitude on and off the golf course, a role model for her team and mental toughness in facing challenges.
At the Golfweek Conference Challenge in Colorado on Sept. 25, 2019, Marsh had to leave the final round of the tournament when her husband, George Tarantini (former head men's soccer coach at NC State), unexpectedly passed away. Assistant coach Darby Sligh seamlessly took over all head coaching and operation duties the rest of the semester.
Marsh returned in January, ready to be back with her team, as she needed them as much as they needed her. Despite the grief she felt from losing her husband, she chose hope and joy, and continued to bring a positive mindset every day to her program.
Before the 2019-10 season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Marsh led the Wolfpack to top 10 showings in two of the team's three spring tournaments, finishing the season with a sixth-place finish at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate.
