Four former members of the Pack begin their XFL seasons this weekend
RALEIGH, N.C. – Four former NC State football players will be taking the field this weekend for the start of the 2020 XFL season. The league is back for its first season since 2001, and features eight teams playing a 10-week schedule.
Â
Former NC State cornerbacks Mike Stevens and Jack Tocho, along with former quarterback Jalan McClendon, will all play for 'Wolfpack-West,' the L.A. Wildcats. A third former CB, Johnathan Alston, will suit up for the Seattle Dragons.
Â
Former tight end Pharoah McKever and offensive guard Terronne Prescod are on Team 9 based in Arlington, which serves as a practice squad with players being able to be called up through Week 5. After that week, Team 9 will be dispersed to the XFL's 8 teams.
Â
Meanwhile, a pair of former Pack defenders have also been making a name for themselves playing in the CFL.
Â
Linebacker Jerod Fernandez concluded his first season with the Ottawa Redblacks as the team's Most Outstanding Rookie. After being in camp with the Washington Redskins, Fernandez played in 10 games with Ottawa and finished with 46 tackles and a pair of forced fumbles.
Â
Defensive end Mike Rose concluded his third season with the Calgary Stampeders, and he also just inked a new two-year deal. Rose led all CFL interior linemen in 2019 with 46 defensive tackles. That total included five tackles for loss and he also had five sacks while starting all 18 games.
