Babelis, Barkai Named ACC Doubles Team of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The doubles pair of Tadas Babelis and Yannai Barkai has been named ACC Doubles Team of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday. The accolades mark the third straight week that NC State men's tennis has garnered ACC honors and is the first time that Babelis or Barkai have received ACC honors.
Babelis and Barkai sit at No. 32 in the Oracle/ITA Rankings and are the only ranked members of the Wolfpack. The duo received the honors after going 2-0 in doubles play last week.
The junior and sophomore clinched the doubles point for the Wolfpack against Penn, taking down Dmitry Shatalin and Kevin Zhu, 7-5, to give NC State a 1-0 edge in the match.
The pair wrapped up their doubles play for the week by defeating No. 13 Ryan Seggerman and Payton Holden, 6-4, in NC State's 4-1 win over Princeton. The victory was the first over a ranked opponent this season for Babelis and Barkai.
