Celebrating Our Senior Captain: David Norris
11/8/2020 10:12:00 AM | Men's Soccer
Senior captain David Norris has been an instrumental part of transforming the trajectory of the NC State men's soccer program during his four years in Raleigh. Norris arrived for his freshman campaign in 2017 and has been a consistent starter and contributor during all four seasons of the George Kiefer era.
"David is one of the best captains I've had the opportunity to work with in my 18 years of coaching. He's played an invaluable role in turning our program around, and I'm thankful for his leadership and for all that he has given to this team."
- Coach Kiefer
Norris has played a part in sparking some of the best results in recent NC State men's soccer history. The Winter Park, Fla., native helped lead the Pack to three NCAA Tournament berths in a row, the first such accomplishment for the squad since the 1985-87 seasons. In 2019, the team finished fifth in the conference standings, its best ACC finish since 2005. Norris was also a part of four Wolfpack upsets over top-five opponents across 2017, 2018 and 2019.
Individually, Norris played in 59 career games and earned the starting nod in 56 of those outings. He logged a total of 5,089 minutes of action on the pitch. In the games that he played in, NC State's formidable back line allowed just 1.2 goals per match.
Thank you, David! You will forever be a part of our Pack, and we wish you all the best as you continue with your next adventure.
