FORT WORTH, Texas -- Anna Rogers defeated Taylor Melville (Denver), 6-3, 7-6 (7), on Tuesday to become the 2019 ITA Summer Nationals Women's Singles Champion. Rogers defeated Janice Shin (Stanford) to qualify for Tuesday's final against Melville.

In the doubles draw, Rogers and Smith made it to the semifinals with 8-1 and 8-2 wins respectively. The duo lost in the semis to Jayci Goldsmith and Tatiana Makarova (Texas A&M), 8-7 (4).

"Every summer the #ITASummerNats is an event several of our players have targeted; its timing is an excellent way to conclude summer play and transition back into school. Anna's win is the culmination of a great summer for the program. I know the amount of work Anna has put in, continues to put in and her appetite for progress. David and I see it every day. It's an excellent example for everyone and is what Pack women's tennis stands for.
"I think mentally this was a very challenging event for Anna coming in as the top seed, carrying that load and coming out on top after several days of play. In some ways, this is a new position to be in, but it's a good position to be in and where we aim to be. All credit to Anna for pulling it off-- she's certainly out their every day earning it.
"It was also good to see Alana make a nice run to the semifinals and combining with Anna for a close call in the semifinals of doubles. This upcoming season is going to be pivotal for Alana's development after a fantastic freshman year.
"Everyone returns to campus in the next several days. We're excited for the new faces and ongoing work. Go Pack!"
