TEMPE, Ariz. --Â Four NC State women's tennis players from the 2018-19 roster have been named ITA All-Academic Scholar Athletes, as announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) on Thursday. The announcement marks the most players to be honored in the same year for the program in at least five years.
Â
NC State has had one player named an academic scholar athlete for four consecutive years.
Bianca Moldovan claims All-Academic Scholar-Athlete status for the third time, and teammates Amanda Rebol, Claudia Wiktorin, and Natalia Nikolopoulou are first-time honorees.
Â
Moldovan posted a 27-16 singles record, a 21-7 singles dual record, and a 21-17 doubles record during the 2018-19 season. She tied for a team-high 11 singles wins in conference play, went on an 11-match winning streak during a stretch of February and into March, and posted a 2-1 record against ranked singles opponents. She concludes her NC State career ranking third in career doubles wins (79) and fourth in career singles wins (81).
Â
Rebol went 30-13 in singles this season and tied for the most singles conference wins on the team with an 11-3 mark against ACC foes. With a three-set victory over Duke's Hannah Zhao on April 10, she set a new program with 88 career singles victories. She concludes her NC State career with 89 to exit as the winningest singles player in program history.
Â
Wiktorin finished her career with the second-most doubles win in school history (82) while her 55 singles wins register as 10th in school history. With teammate Anna Rogers, she advanced to the 2018 NCAA Doubles Championship Sweet 16 in 2018.
Â
Moldovan and Rebol were also named to the All-ACC Academic Team earlier this month.
Â
To become an ITA scholar-athlete, one must be a varsity letter winner, have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters (including freshman through senior year).
