RALEIGH -- Lexi Keberle has signed a financial aid agreement to join the NC State women's tennis program, as announced Wednesday by head coach Simon Earnshaw.
Â
Keberle comes to Raleigh after two seasons at Wisconsin, earning First Team All-Big Ten Honors in 2018 and was also named to the 2017-18 All-Big Ten Freshman Team. In her freshman campaign, Keberle represented Wisconsin on court one, leading the team in singles wins with a 25-10 record. Â She earned her first ranked win in her second match of her collegiate career, defeating No. 41 Maria Konova (North Texas) in straight sets.
Â
Playing on court two in singles this past season, she posted a 25-11 record, including a ranked win against No. 74 Maty  Cancini (Iowa State) and impressive wins over Elysia Bolton (UCLA), tabbed at No. 29 in the final Oracle/ITA singles rankings, and Sofya Golubskaya (Syracuse), who finished the 2019 season ranked 124th. Keberle reached a career-high No. 46 Oracle/ITA Division I ranking in the fall of 2018.
Â
"It's not often that someone like Lexi comes along in recruiting that's a no-brainer and that the feeling is instantly mutual," said Earnshaw. "We've had the opportunity recently to get to know Lexi and her family, and I can't emphasize how fortunate we are to welcome them to the program.
"Lexi's goals, mindset, and passion fit everything we can ask for in a player and that instantly resonated with everyone involved in the program. I'm confident we have the right culture and environment to help her maximize what has already been a very successful collegiate career.
Â
"Her character and work ethic are going to add to our leadership, and coupled with her strong playing experience, I expect her to play a big role in helping drive the program forward to the next level. This is an exciting time for Wolfpack women's tennis, and the addition of Lexi is just going to increase all of our expectations to capitalize moving forward."
Â
In high school, Keberle was a two-time Division I Wisconsin High School State Champion and was tabbed as the No. 23 Bluechip recruit of the 2017 recruiting class, according to tennisrecruiting.net. She posted a perfect 61-0 record in high school play.
Â
"I chose NC State because of its high academic standards, the level of coaching, and the desire I saw in both the coaches and players to compete at the highest level in NCAA tennis," said Keberle.
Â
The daughter of Doug and Laura Keberle, she trained as a junior at the Pleasant Valley Tennis Center in Wisconsin under John Gambucci and at the Western Racquet Club under Erick Martinez.
Â
In her free time, Keberle enjoys watching sports and spending time on the lake.
