RALEIGH – NC State women's golf head coach Page Marsh has announced the addition of transfer Shirley Ou to its program on Tuesday. She is the sixth player to join the Wolfpack this fall alongside Natalie Armbruester, Pilar Berchot, Inja Fric, Ryann Sinclair and Emily Song.
Ou, a native of Beijing, China, comes to Raleigh after spending two years at Sandhills Community College in Pinehurst, N.C., under the tutelage of coaches Herb Pike, former LPGA golfer Donna Andrews and standout amateur Bonnie Bell McGowan.
She will be eligible immediately and have two years remaining.
"Shirley is a mature young woman who loves the game and always has a smile on her face," said Marsh. "She will bring added experience having competed at the junior college level for two years prior to her arrival. I appreciate her resilience and know she will be another great fit with the team we have recruited."
As a freshman she became the program's first-ever All-American, collecting honorable mention honors with a 14th-place finish at the national championship. In total, she competed in six tournaments and earned medalist honors in two of them.
As a sophomore, Ou played in all 10 tournaments for the Flyers and led the squad with a 78.75 stroke average. She collected four individual titles and her best 18-hole score of the season was a 72 at the Davidson Intercollegiate.
Prior to SCC, Ou attended Orchid Park Secondary School and received color awards, which are awarded to the best 15 student-athletes in Singapore, in 2015 and '16.
