ORLANDO, Fla. – NC State women's soccer alumna Taylor Porter has signed a national team replacement contract with the Orlando Pride, as recently announced by the organization.
Porter has been training with the team and is a signee brought in to replace players named to 2019 FIFA World Cup rosters, as she becomes the first NC State player to sign a NWSL contract.
"Taylor deserves this opportunity, however, both she and the program should've had opportunities in the league earlier," said head coach Tim Santoro. "Taylor started all 85 games of her career at a top 25 ACC team and was a key part of the program's rebuild and current success. She'll do well."
The San Diego, Calif., native started all 85 matches in her four years with the Wolfpack (2015-18), playing a total of 7,120 minutes. She tallied six goals and five assists from her defensive midfielder position for a combined 17 points in her career.
Porter helped the Wolfpack earn an NCAA Tournament berth in the past three seasons, including a pair of Sweet 16 appearances and program-best RPI of 18 last year. Her class is the first in 20 years to accumulate 40+ wins, and the second in program history to make a pair of Sweet 16 appearances in their careers.
