
Rogers and Smith End Historic Run in NCAA Doubles Championship Elite Eight

The Duo became the first Pack players to advance to an Elite 8
ORLANDO, Fla. – Anna Rogers and Alana Smith concluded an impressive 2019 campaign in the NCAA Doubles Championship Elite Eight on Thursday night, falling to South Carolina's No. 3 Ingrid Martins and Mia Horvit in a 7-5, 6-4 decision.
The Pack's All-American duo finishes the season with an incredible 35-6 doubles record and a 6-2 mark against top-25 opponents while achieving a No. 7 ranking, tied for the highest in school history.
Rogers and Smith advanced to the NCAA Doubles Championship Elite Eight for the first time in program history after taking down two ranked opponents to continue play at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.
The top-10 tandems split the opening 10 games of the first set. South Carolina broke serve in the 11th game to take a 6-5 lead and went on to close out the first set, 7-5.
Martins and Horvit took a 3-1 lead in the closing set and captured a spot as one of four remaining teams with a 6-4 second-set victory.
The match marks the conclusion of the historic 2019 spring campaign for the Pack. The final singles and doubles rankings are set to be released on May 29.
