RALEIGH – The NC State women's soccer team has released its 2019 schedule, as announced by head coach Tim Santoro on Wednesday.
With 18 regular-season matches on the slate, 11 of those teams, including seven Atlantic Coast Conference opponents, that the Wolfpack will face earned a spot in the 2018 NCAA Tournament.
"To us, it's important to play a tough nonconference schedule," said Santoro. "Last year, that portion of the schedule was rated the hardest in the country and prepared us for the season. In 2019, I believe every team we play will win a lot of games and compete at the top of their league for a NCAA Tournament berth.
"In addition, a few of the teams have been to the College Cup the last few years while the ACC schedule will be the gauntlet that is the ultimate test. But we believe we'll have a roster that's ready for all these challenges."
Its home slate features nonconference matchups with Iowa and Furman, as well as an exhibition with College of Charleston Aug. 17. The Wolfpack will be on the road for majority of its nonconference schedule, as it will make trips to South Carolina, Washington DC, New Jersey and face in-state opponent East Carolina.
In conference play, the Wolfpack will host Boston College, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Syracuse and Notre Dame, and will travel to in-state foes Duke, UNC-Chapel Hill, Wake Forest as well as Pittsburgh and Louisville.
The Furman match will be Alumni Day, and the Pack's contest with Notre Dame will be Senior Day.
The ACC Championship will start Nov. 3 with the quarterfinals held at campus sites, while the semifinals and championship match will be held Nov. 8-10 at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C.
NC State will look to make its fourth consecutive trip NCAA Tournament, which will run Nov. 15-Dec. 8.
