The Pack Picks Up Two Ranked Singles Wins
SEATTLE, Wash. --Â The #14 NC State women's tennis team fell to #5 Georgia, 4-2, in a hard-fought battle on Friday in the first round of the ITA Women's National Team Championship. Due to impending weather and schedule changes, the teams competed in singles play first and would not need to compete in doubles. The Pack is now 6-1 in dual season.
The Pack took the first two singles matches to jump ahead 2-0. The Bulldogs bounced back to take the lead, 3-2, to put pressure on the sixth court as Amanda Rebol battled against No. 84 Meg Kowalski to keep the match alive. Rebol took Kowalski to three sets, but Kowalski pulled away in the third set to capture the win for the Bulldogs, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
Adriana Reami jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first set, and would be the first player to capture a singles win. Defeating No. 102 Lourdes Carle, Reami earned her third ranked singles win of the season.
Despite jumping out to an early lead in the first set, Alana Smith needed second and third set wins for her third ranked singles win of the season against No. 10 Marta Gonzalez.

Straight from the Pack: Head Coach Simon Earnshaw
"It was a tough match today given the circumstances in that it was somewhat disjointed, but overall I thought we played really hard and handled it well. Could it have been better? Yes, obviously, and I think we can all see that. Give credit to Georgia. They are one of the top programs for a reason, and today they were able to find a way past us. Moving forward, a match like this against a team that's picked to win the SEC is a good measuring stick for us. We played them deep all the way to the sixth singles match and although it's not as much progress as we would want in this moment, we are getting there slowly and surely at the highest level. This whole trip is a testament to our progress and a massive experience for us. We will be ready to go again tomorrow, and be hungry to compete. I'm sure of that. Go Pack!"
