ACC Release
GREENSBORO, N.C. - Alexis Galarneau and Michael Ogden were named to the 2018 All-ACC Academic team, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon. Both are first-time honorees for the award that recognizes student-athletes for their successes in the classroom.
Galarneau and Ogden paired up in doubles for the majority of the 2017-18 season, posting a 14-7 record as a duo. In the fall, they reached the doubles final of the ITA Carolina Regional and competed in the main draws of both the ITA All-American Championships and the ITA Fall National Championships. The pair ended the season ranked No. 67 in the final Oracle/ITA doubles rankings.
Galarneau also saw success in singles competition during his sophomore campaign, which ended with a berth at the 2018 NCAA Singles Championships. He reached a career-high No. 16 singles ranking twice during the season and became the first NC State player to reach the quarterfinal of the ITA All-American Championships. After taking down 10 ranked foes, he ended the season ranked No. 52.
To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic team, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.0 grade point average (GPA) during the previous semester and maintained a 3.0 cumulative GPA during their academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered.
The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes each conference student-athlete with a GPA of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
