RALEIGH, N.C. – Each year the NFL Draft builds more and more excitement for football fans missing the game since the final snap of the Super Bowl, look no further then full coverage being offered by three networks for the first time this year.
The long wait of drama and suspense comes to an end this weekend from Dallas at the 2018 NFL Draft. Round 1 will be Thursday, Rounds 2-3 on Friday, and Rounds 4-7 on Saturday.
As many as eight members from last year's Wolfpack squad have been mentioned in various mock drafts over the last month – including DE Kentavius Street who suffered a torn ACL in a pre-draft workout. A school-record seven Pack players were invited to the NFL Combine in February.
NC State will be looking to establish another new program-best for the most players selected in a single NFL Draft. The current best stands at six right now, established in both 2012 and 2006.
Make sure to follow @PackFootball on both twitter and Instagram on Thursday, as both accounts will be providing behind-the-scenes coverage live from the first-round Dallas.
The new #PackPro draftees will be headlined by consensus All-American DE Bradley Chubb, as every mock draft has him going as one of the first defensive selections in the draft, while most have him as the first choice.
Chubb will become NC State's 16th first round draft pick dating back to 1962. He will also be the fourth-straight defensive player to earn the distinction from NC State and the sixth defensive lineman overall.
Along with Chubb, NC State has the possibility of having all four of its starters from the 2017 defensive line drafted this weekend, as B.J. Hill, Justin Jones and Street are all projected draft picks. NC State will be attempting to become the first school since LSU in 2013 to have four defensive linemen drafted in the same year.
NC State had three defensive lineman draft in a previous draft – all in the first round back in 2006. Mario Williams was the first ACC player ever to be chosen No. 1 overall, and he was followed by teammates Manny Lawson (No. 22) and John McCargo (No. 26) later in the round.
The Wolfpack also had a pair of players declare early for the draft – RB Nyheim Hines and OT Will Richardson. NC State has not had more then one early entrant selected in the same draft since 2006 (Williams and LB Stephen Tulloch).
If Hines is selected, it will mark the second straight year a Wolfpack running back has been selected. Matthew Dayes was a seventh-round choice by the Cleveland Browns last year. Richardson could become the first offensive tackle taken since Chris Colmer in 2005 (although Joe Thuney played OT at NC State, he was drafted by the New England Patriots as a guard in 2016). Offensive guard Tony Adams has also been projected as a draft pick.
Another weapon on offense who should see his name called is Jaylen Samuels, who many see playing multiple positions at the next level.
