
Taylor On Cusp Of Earning LET Status

MOROCCO - NC State women's golf alumna and volunteer assistant coach Rachael Taylor is in the midst of the final stage of qualification to earn a spot as a member of the Ladies European Tour (LET). With three rounds to go, the Scotland native is in a tie for 14th with a three-under par 141 after firing scores of 71 and 70 the first two days.

A standout for the Wolfpack from 2013-16, Taylor turned pro at the end of her collegiate career and has been working toward the goal of earning tour status ever since. In 2016 she managed to reach the second stage of LPGA Q School, and attempted again to earn status this past fall.

"My game is very steady at the moment," said Taylor. "I'm striking my drives and irons well, and I'm so happy my hard work the past couple months in Raleigh have paid off. I'm excited for another week here in Morocco. The courses are gorgeous, and as long as I keep rolling my putts I'll be fine."

The past two months have been a whirlwind of intense play, as she had to make the cut in three prequalifiers (four rounds in each qualifier) in Morocco and Cambodia in order to reach the final stage.

Taylor is now in a 115-player field for the final stage that is being played in Morocco. They are alternating competition at Amelkis Golf Club and Palm Golf Ourika the first four days before playing the final round at Amelkis GC.

After four rounds of play, the top 60 players (and ties) advance to the final round on Thursday. Following 90 holes, the leading five players will earn Category 5c membership of the LET, meaning that they will gain entry into most tournaments, while those in positions 6-25 will earn membership in Category 8.

Players who make the cut but finish in positions 26 or lower may still join the LET in Category 9b.

While at NC State, Taylor compiled a 75.54 stroke average through 85 rounds, which ranks seventh all-time in program history. As a junior and senior she lead the team in stroke average, earning NGCA All-Region honors in 2015 and winning the Gator Invitational as an individual in 2016.

Taylor was additionally apart of the 2014 and '15 squads that advanced to the NCAA Championship.
