Hidlay Named Co-ACC Wrestler of the Week

#2 ranked 157-pounder won Hokie Open title

RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State redshirt-sophomore Hayden Hidlay was named co-ACC Wrestler of the Week after winning the 157-pound title at the Hokie Open this past weekend.

In the first tournament of the season, the 2018 NCAA finalist went 4-0 at the Hokie Open. He outscored his foes 71-29 (with 23 of his points given up being escape points) and tallied 27 takedowns and only gave up one.

In the finals, he notched a top-10 win, defeating #7 Monday of North Carolina 10-7, scoring four takedowns to Monday's one.

Last season, he was named ACC Wrestler of the Week a league-best three times.

Hidlay is ranked #2 at 157 pounds in every poll, and will be leaving next week to compete at the U23 World Championships in Romania.
