Former Missouri guard will enroll at NC State
RALEIGH, N.C. – Blake Harris has been admitted to NC State and will join the men's basketball program, head coach Kevin Keatts announced on Wednesday. Harris joins the Wolfpack from the University of Missouri.
Â
"We're excited to welcome Blake to Wolfpack Nation," Keatts said. "He exhibits great qualities both on and off the court, which is very important to us as we continue to build our program. Blake is an exceptional basketball talent and he will add great depth to our backcourt for the future.
Â
"Sitting out this year gives him the opportunity to learn our system, our staff and get acclimated to NC State both academically and socially."
Â
Harris appeared in 14 games during his freshman season at Missouri and earned the start in nine of those contests. The Chapel Hill, N.C., native enjoyed one of his best performances against Long Beach State, as he scored a season-high 11 points and also tallied nine assists.
Â
A top-100 recruit nationally out of high school, Harris averaged 25.0 points and 9.9 assists per game as a senior at Raleigh's Word of God Christian Academy. The Holy Rams finished the season with a 27-6 overall record and Harris was named a first team all-state selection by the Associated Press.
Â
He was rated the third-best player in North Carolina following his prep career and was ranked as the 20th-best guard in the 2017 recruiting class by ESPN.com.
Â
Harris comes from an athletic family, as his father Bernardo played in the NFL for nine seasons and made two trips to the Super Bowl, winning Super Bowl XXXI as a member of the Green Bay Packers.
