#PackCamp Profiles Practice 5: Running Backs

Raleigh – NC State's first practice in full pads was much more physical than the previous four, but that did not change the points of emphasis for running backs coach Des Kitchings during the Wolfpack's two-hour session on a sweltering Friday morning.
"Fundamentals, effort, attitude," is what Kitchings said he expected of his unit. "Just have great fundamentals, give us great effort and have a great attitude."

As usual, practice began with walkthroughs and individual drills, but the graduation to full pads meant less time was spent on the install and plays were repeated more often. Kitchings was satisfied that today was a clean day for the running backs, as they were crisp with the install and made few mistakes.
The contact was heavy as the backs went through Oklahoma drill, seven-on-seven and eleven-on-eleven. Nyheim Hines and Reggie Gallaspy II showed their ability to play so low to the ground that, combined with their footwork and acceleration, they were difficult to stop at times.
For Erin Collins and Nakia Robinson, Jr., the chance to learn from their more seasoned teammates, like Hines and Gallaspy II, has proven invaluable.
"They're coming along, although everything is a bit of a whirlwind for them right now" explained Kitchings. "As we've been progressing along with the installs and repeat plays, they've been learning."

With returners and newcomers alike displaying the fundamentals, effort and attitude espoused by Kitchings throughout camp so far, the Pack's running backs appear to be going from strength to strength.
