Ress wins Gold, Zevnik wins Silver on Day Two of WUGS

TAIPEI, Taiwan – Day two of the World University Games was another memorable one for the NC State men's & women's swimming & diving team, as Justin Ress earned his second gold medal in as many days by winning the 100-meter backstroke, and Alexia Zevnik won silver the 200 backstroke, breaking the team record in the process at the National Taiwan Sports University.
Ress, fresh off a gold medal yesterday in the 400 freestyle relay, further solidified himself as a rising star of world swimming by completing the 100 backstroke in 53.29, only 0.2 off his best time in his gold medal-winning effort.
"It feels good to know all the valuable experience I have gained this summer and continue to gain is starting to pay off" he said. "I feel more confident every time I step up race knowing that I can race with anybody. Nailing my first two races gets me excited for the rest of the week and going four-for-four on gold medals."
He was not alone in winning medals on consecutive days, as Zevnik's time of 2:09.92 seconds in the 200 back earned silver and broke the program record. The 200 back was a strong race for the Wolfpack, as it also saw Mackenzie Glover take sixth with a time of 2:10.69 seconds.
