#PackCamp Profiles Practice 11: Wide Receivers

RALEIGH – After an inspiring post-practice address from head coach Dave Doeren yesterday, combined with the awarding of a scholarship to redshirt-junior running back Brady Bodine last night, the NC State football team's competitiveness and intensity was through the roof during their two-hour session on Friday morning.
Given that this was the 11th practice and fatigue is beginning to creep in, combined with the sun beating down and high humidity for the duration of practice, the added boost of seeing Bodine awarded a scholarship came at an opportune time. Redshirt-junior wide receiver Stephen Louis noted how seeing his friend and teammate honored helped the entire team push through practice this morning.
"For me, seeing Brady get the scholarship was very special" he explained. "I was literally there from day one with him. I've seen what he's done and the type of great teammate that he is, so it was special to see that. It was so hot outside, but when I saw Brady it lifted me up. I know every guy that was out there today thought 'alright, let's go' when they saw Brady. For him to work that hard and get it was really special for all of us."

Coupled with Doeren's speech yesterday, the energy was high on a day where it would have been easy to make excuses.
During one-on-ones and 11-on-11, one receiver who has shone so far has been redshirt-freshman C.J. Riley, as his mixture of length (6'4) and speed (4.48 in the 40) have made him a matchup nightmare for most defenders. Louis, who knows what it takes to be a dominant receiver, has been impressed with his younger teammate, who sat out last season after undergoing an ACL reconstruction.
"C.J. is great. For him to come back and play how he's been playing right now is great to see" he said. "He's playing smooth, and he's not afraid to go out there and cut on his knee. He's a guy who's very gifted with his size and speed. He's probably the fastest receiver we have, so seeing him play has been very fun to watch."
Along with Louis and Riley, Gavin Locklear and Jakobi Meyers have looked dangerous in the slot, while Kelvin Harmon and Maurice Trowell have also shown they'll continue to be threats this season. Add in RS freshman Daeshawn Stephens and true freshmen Max Fisher and Emeka Emezie and the Wolfpack has tremendous depth out wide.

With a closed scrimmage in Carter-Finley Stadium tomorrow, the Wolfpack will have an opportunity to take what it's learned throughout camp so far and put it into action.
