#PackCamp Profiles: Practice 2

Raleigh – Every possible challenging situation of a football game, both mental and physical, should be something that has already been faced in practice. That was the overarching theme on day two of fall camp, as head coach Dave Doeren and the NC State coaching staff put the Wolfpack through a fast-paced two-hour session on a gorgeous Sunday morning.
Doeren and the coaching staff incorporated more seven-on-seven situations to go along with the continued work on fundamentals, footwork and communication, staples of all NC State practice sessions.
The emphasis was on focus and learning to fight through the fatigue that can cause one to lose focus. The staff put the team in challenging situations, forcing them to learn to deal with them now instead of on game day. "That's what camp is all about," Doeren told the team after the workout.
While the players have yet to wear pads, the spirited and good-natured competitiveness between the offense and defense was clear. And although they haven't started tackling, the first offense and the first defense did work against each other.
Along with ensuring both sides of the ball have seen every possible scenario by September 2, the mental aspect of the game and not getting caught up in emotions was also stressed by the coaching staff. This builds off one of the programs core values: taking each day as it comes and "winning the day."
After a brief stretch and visit with their position coaches, the team headed straight in to the Murphy Center to recover and eat, prior to meetings and strength and conditioning work later in the afternoon.
With tomorrow and Tuesday being off-days due to final exams for summer classes, be sure to look out for Wednesday's edition of #PackCamp Profiles, as we give you an inside look at what the quarterbacks go through at practice.
