Strong Performance at FIBA U20 Euros for Yurtseven

NC State sophomore averaged 17.0 points and 11.4 rebounds per game
NC State sophomore center Omer Yurtseven completed play at the 2017 FIBA U20 European Championships in Greece Sunday.
The Istanbul, Turkey native led his home country to a ninth-place finish at the championships. After completing pool play, Turkey lost a back-and-forth game to Germany, 80-77, in the Round of 16, but battled back to win its next three games to finish in ninth.
Yurtseven was solid throughout the tournament as he averaged 17.0 points and 11.4 rebounds per game, while shooting 61.3 percent from the field. He also averaged 2.1 blocks per outing.
Yurtseven finished the FIBA U20 European Championships, tied for fourth in scoring (17.0), fourth in rebounding (11.4), tied for second in blocks (2.1) and second in field goal percentage (61.3%).
Yurtseven was especially strong in the final three games of the tournament as he put Turkey on his back to lead the team to three consecutive wins. After the close loss to Germany, Yurtseven was 9-of-13 from the field to score 24 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead the team to a win over Latvia. He closed the tournament with 23 points on 11-of-13 shooting and 15 rebounds in an 85-82 win over Ukraine.
In the final three games of the tournament, Yurtseven averaged 21.0 points per game and shot 73.3 percent from the field (28-of-38) while averaging 12.7 rebounds per contest.
