NC STATE to host Penn State in ACC-Big Ten Challenge

Pack will face the Nittany Lions for the first time since November 2012.
RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State men's basketball team will host Penn State in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge, the league announced on Thursday.

The match-up will be the first between the two in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge since November 29, 2000. The Pack defeated Penn State that year, 84-76.

The teams have met 19 times previously with NC State holding an edge in the all-time series, 16-3. The programs last met in November 2012 at the Puerto Rice Tip-Off with NC State knocking off the Nittany Lions, 72-55.
Penn State, coming off a 15-18 season, return its top-three scorers from last season. Tony Carr (13.2) and Lamar Stevens (12.7) were Penn State's top two scorers last season as freshmen

NC State prepares for the 2017-18 season under new head coach Kevin Keatts. Keatts was hired on March 17 after three season at UNC-Wilmington where he led the Seahawks to three consecutive Colonial Athletic Association titles and two NCAA tournament appearances.
The leading returning scorer and rebounder for NC State is Abdul-Malik Abu who averaged 11.8 points and 7.0 rebounds per game last season. Also back for the Pack is junior Torin Dorn and sophomores Markell Johnson and Omer Yurtseven.
The Wolfpack added graduate transfer Allerik Freeman from Baylor, who has one year of eligibility remaining, and high school senior Lavar Batts, who signed with the Pack in April.
