RALEIGH, N.C. – A total of seven members of the 2016-17 NC State wrestling team will be earning their undergraduate degrees from NC State this Spring. A pair of those grapplers will be returning for their redshirt-senior seasons this upcoming academic year for the Wolfpack.
Â
"I am extremely proud of the work our guys put in," said head coach Pat Popolizio. "We are raising the level of expectations for our guys, because we know how valuable it is for a team to get as many academic accolades we can. We work extremely hard to keep improving that team GPA."
Â
Michael Macchiavello and Pete Renda – both recent NCAA Qualifiers at 184 pounds – will each earn their NC State degrees with one year of eligibility remaining. Both will be earning their undergraduate degrees in Finance. Macchiavello has applied to the MALS program for grad school, while Renda will be completing an Applied Stats and Data Management Certificate.
Â
Three-time NCAA Qualifier Sam Speno will earn his degree in Sport Management. Chad Pyke will also get a Finance degree, and he will transfer to UT-Chattanooga for his final season of eligibility.
Â
Marshall Brown (Operations/Supply Chain Management), Lee Davis (General Psychology) and Cohl Fulk (Science, Tech and Society) will all also be graduating from NC State this weekend.
