Kozeniesky, Phillips to Compete at ISSF World Cup in Munich

Wolfpack duo in action in Germany
RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State rifle's Lucas Kozeniesky and Lauren Phillips will compete in the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup in Munich, Germany, this weekend. The Wolfpack duo posted strong scores in the qualifier and are two of 14 athletes from the USA taking part in the event.

Munich is hosting the prestigious event for the seventh straight year at the well-known Olympic Shooting Range in Hochbrück.
The air rifle and prone competitions will be held on Friday and Saturday. A free live stream of the finals sessions, schedule and results are available by clicking here.

The first relay of women's air rifle 7:15 a.m. Friday morning and the second relay is slated to start at 10 a.m. The men's air rifle competition will begin at 2:45 a.m. with the first relay and the second relay is slated for a 5 a.m. start. Friday.

Phillips will take part in the prone discipline as well as air rifle, while Kozeniesky will only compete in air rifle. The prone event for the women will be held on Sunday starting at 4:30 a.m. with the first relay and the second following at 7:15 a.m.

Kozeniesky and West Virginia Olympian Ginny Thrasher were coach selections for participation at the Munich World Cup, while other athletes were selected based upon results as well as Performance Standard Score (PSS) qualification from the recent Spring Selection Match in Fort Benning, Ga.
Kozeniesky, a 2016 Olympian for the USA Team in the men's air rifle competition, concluded his NC State career as the program record holder in air rifle, smallbore and total aggregate total. He was a six-time All-American during his illustrious career and advanced to the NCAA Championships as an individual in each of his last two seasons.
Phillips also garnered All-America honors in her first season competing for the Wolfpack after transferring into the program. The Seabeck, Wash., native turned in an excellent season in the air rifle event, registering a season average of 592.23, the 12th-best clip in the nation and second on the team. She logged a career-best 596 score in the Wolfpack's home victory versus North Georgia.

She was also strong in the smallbore competition for NC State, as she recorded the team's second-best season average with a 578.29, which ranked among the top 35 in the country.
