Senior linebacker Airius Moore has been named to the preseason watch list for the Lott Impact Trophy. Â The list includes 42 other players nationally and the winner will be announced on Dec. 10.
Named for Ronnie Lott, the IMPACT Trophy is the first and only colllege football award to equally recognize athletic performance and the personal character attributes of the player. Â It has been given annually since 2006 to the player 'who exhibits the same characteristics Lott embodied during his distinguished career: Â Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.'
Moore enters his senior campaign with more games played (39) than any other player on defense. He ranked third on the team in tackles last season and was named the Defensive MVP of the Independence Bowl after tallying nine tackles, including two sacks, Â in that victory over Vanderbilt. Â Moore was one of four Wolfpack players who spent his spring break on a service trip to Kenya, where he worked with children at Mountain Park Academy. Â
A first-team Academic All-ACC performer in 2016, Moore also serves as one of the Wolfpack team's SAAC reps and has been on the Leadership Council for his entire career.
