TEMPE, Ariz.– The NC State women's tennis team jumped to No. 26 in the latest Oracle/ITA team poll, announced Tuesday afternoon. The Wolfpack is on a four-match winning streak, most recently coming off wins over conference opponents Notre Dame and Wake Forest last weekend. The team has a season record of 14-7 (3-5 ACC).
The Wolfpack open its weekend-sweep by taking down the Fighting Irish on the road by a narrow 4-3 decision on Friday. NC State earned the doubles point over Notre Dame, followed by singles wins from Claudia Wiktorin, Adriana Reami and Bianca Moldovan to seal the win.
On Sunday, the team fought back from a dropped doubles point to earn singles wins on courts two through six to top Wake Forest by a final score of 5-2. Moldovan cruised to her seventh-straight singles win, taking down Wake Forest's Chandler Carter on court five, 7-6(7-3), 6-0 and Anna Rogers notably won her three-setter against No. 110 Emma Davis on court two, 6-2, 6-7(4-7), 1-0(10-8).
NC State is one of 10 ACC schools ranked among the poll. North Carolina leads the field as the No. 4 rank, followed by No. 10 Georgia Tech and No. 17 Duke to mark the conference's top three. The Wolfpack is the fourth-ranked ACC team, with Notre Dame (No. 27), Wake Forest (No. 29), Virginia (No. 32), Miami (No. 45), Clemson (No. 46) and Florida State (No. 50) rounding out the ACC's showing in the poll.
The Wolfpack will return home to the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center after two road matches to compete against Clemson on Friday, March 31. First serve is set for 3 p.m.
