Day Three Results
ATLANTA—The NC State swimming and diving program continued to rewrite its record book on day three of the ACC championships on Wednesday night. The team won two events and had podium-finishes in four of the six events. Additionally, the program set three new school records and earned five NCAA "A" cuts.
Through the first 14 events, NC State still controls the lead with 776.5 points. Virginia holds second place with 750 points, Louisville sits in third with 674.5 points and North Carolina is currently in fourth place with 665 points.
Wolfpack Relays
For the first time since 1981, NC State won the 400 medley relay, dominating the rest of the field. The team of Alexia Zevnik, Kayla Brumbaum, Krista Duffield and Courtney Caldwell finished two seconds ahead of Louisville, stopping the clock in 3:28.26. Its time, which was only a hundredth of a second away from the meet record, demolished the school record and stands as the fastest time in the country so far this season.

After three days of competition, the Wolfpack has won three of the four relays contested, and finished second in the only relay it didn't take first.
Backstroke
The Wolfpack placed four in the "A" final of the 100 backstroke and all six of the team's entries return to the final session, making the event the biggest-scorer of the night. Perry opened the group's races with a 54.00 in the "C" final to take 18th overall. In the "B" final, Mackenzie Glover earned a NCAA "B" cut, finishing 14th in 53.39.
The team scored 104 points in the "A" final of the event alone, with Zevnik leading the way with another historic win. The senior touched the wall in 50.80 to win the event for the first time in program history. In doing so, she knocked three tenths of a second off her best time, going under 51 seconds for the first time. Her performance marks the fastest time in the country this season, sets the school record and earns her a NCAA "A" cut.

Caldwell was next to finish, taking fourth place with a time of 51.75. In the morning, the sophomore clocked a 51.35 to mark the program's third-fastest time. Elise Haan took sixth place, posting a time of 52.18. Haan's swim from the preliminary session, 51.13, stands as the second-fastest time in the record book. Additionally, both Caldwell and Haan tabbed NCAA "A" cuts. Lotta Nevalainen was the fourth and final Wolfpacker in the championship heat, finishing eighth with a time of 53.46, slightly off of her morning time of 52.81.
Breaststroke
Senior Brumbaum earned her first-ever individual podium finish, taking third place in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 58.91. In the morning session, Brumbaum posted a time of 58.85, breaking her school record and earning a NCAA "A" standard. Her time stands as the seventh-fastest in the country so far this season.
Butterfly
A trio of Wolfpackers scored in the 100 butterfly. Krista Duffield led the way with a lifetime best performance to take 9th place in 52.44. Her time marks the second-fastest time in program history. Senior Natalie Labonge finished 15th overall in 52.98. Both Duffield and Labonge earned NCAA "B" cuts. Lydia Jones rounded out the butterfliers, finishing 24th in 54.74.
Individual Medley
Three from NC State scored in the 400 individual medley. Hannah Moore found her second podium-finish of the week, taking third place in 4:09.10. Freshman Jessica Horomanski posted a lifetime best result, taking 10th in 4:13.84. Lindsay Morrow took 15th place with a time of 4:18.92, just off her time in the morning, 4:17.48.
Freestyle
NC State returned two of three entries to the final session, as Rachel Muller and Christine Kerr qualified for the "B" and "C" finals, respectively. Muller took 12th overall with a time of 1:46.36, while Kerr finished the race in 1:47.80 to take 20th.
"I think tonight was our hard fought battle with getting points on the board—it wasn't a smooth session for us," said head coach Braden Holloway. "We had some up, we had some downs but we walked away in a position to give ourselves a run at it tomorrow.
"I want to say hats off to Alexia Zevnik. Going 50-point twice in one night and getting her second conference championship—that's a pretty big feat. I think Kayla breaking 59 was a big achievement. That was another big barrier and coming in this season she hadn't been under a minute.
"We came back tonight and did better in some areas where we needed to, and ending the night with a dominant relay win was something our team needed to end the session with and build momentum going into tomorrow."
Wolfpack Diving
Day three of competition included men's three-meter springboard. Freshman James Brady finished 23rd overall with 280.90 points. Harrison Mitchell took 33rd place after scoring 227.55 points.
